When Do I Need to See an ENT Doctor or an Ear Specialist?

When it comes to nasal congestion, it can be tough to know whether or not you need to see a specialist. One good way to gauge your need is the three-day rule: If you’ve been sick for three days or if your symptoms persist or recur with little improvement.

Difficulty breathing through your nose or throat
    Persistent hoarseness or voice changes
    Recurrent or persistent sore throat
    Difficulty swallowing

These symptoms can indicate chronic infection or cancer and can worsen without appropriate medical attention.

If you still aren’t sure whether you need to see an ENT doctor or Ear Specialist, feel free to call us at (402) 502-6970. We’ll be happy to discuss your situation and make an appropriate recommendation.
